Stabilizing a Critical Drainage Area with a Long-Term Erosion Control Solution
When a municipality faced significant erosion that threatened the stability of a critical drainage area, they needed a solution that would address the immediate concern while providing long-term protection.
Bierschbach Equipment & Supply’s Sioux Falls Territory Manager, Torey Koch, responded quickly by visiting the site to evaluate the conditions firsthand and determine the best approach for stabilizing the area.
The Challenge
The municipality was experiencing significant erosion along a slope and adjacent waterway. Left unaddressed, the erosion had the potential to continue affecting the stability of the drainage area.
Recognizing the importance of finding an effective, long-term solution, Torey conducted an on-site evaluation to better understand the conditions and identify the appropriate erosion-control approach.
The Solution
Following the site evaluation, Bierschbach Equipment & Supply partnered with Solmax’s Erosion Control Division to develop a solution tailored to the project.
The system incorporated:
- Propex PYRAMAT 75 for slope stabilization
- Propex PYRAMATTRESS channel system to protect the waterway and provide long-term erosion resistance
By combining slope stabilization with channel protection, the solution addressed both areas of concern and provided a comprehensive approach to controlling erosion.
The Result
The installation was completed successfully and met the municipality’s project objectives.
One of the key benefits of the system is its ability to become naturally vegetated over time. As vegetation becomes established, the area will blend into the surrounding landscape, creating a natural appearance while the erosion-control products continue providing structural support and protection beneath the surface.
The municipality was pleased with the responsiveness of the Bierschbach team, the on-site evaluation, and the overall solution developed for the project.
